Birkirkara defender Rodrigo Pereira has received a two-match ban following his dismissal in the second half of his side's 2-0 defeat to Valletta on Sunday.

Pereira was given a straight red card by referee Kevin Azzopardi after he retaliated to a foul by Roderick Briffa.

The Brazilian defender will miss Birkirkara's forthcoming games against Hibs and Sliema Wanderers.

Six other Premier League players were given a one-match ban today.

Balzan duo Pedrinho and Lydon Micallef have been ruled out of Friday's Championship Pool game against Floriana.

Tarxien suffered a blow ahead of their relegation clash with Mosta as Justin Grioli and Everton were suspended for four yellow cards.

The already-relegated Marsaxlokk will be without captain Trevor Templeman and Clive Brincat for Sunday's match against Mqabba.
