Obituary

AGIUS. On April 21, MANUEL, widower of Mary, aged 78, formerly of Manuel’s Auto Parts, Birkirkara, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his son Tancred and his wife Marion, his beloved grandchildren Simon and Cristina, his sisters Rita, wife of John Grech, and Antoinette, wife of Michel Debono, his brothers Rennie and his wife Josephine, Jos­eph and his wife Mary, and Romeo and his wife Vivien, his in-laws Joseph, Doris, wife of Anton Camilleri, and Peter and his wife Daisy, his son’s in-laws Lino, Claire, Louise, Josianne and Henry, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Balzan parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Intensive Therapy Unit at Mater Dei for all their loving care and dedication. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CARUANA. On April 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY, widow of Arthur, aged 90, of Sliema, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers and sister, their families and her late husband’s family. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. for the Addolorata chapel in Paola where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza would be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

DEBONO. On April 22, THERESA, widow of Ġużeppi, aged 85, from Birkirkara, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Johnny, Ina and her husband Emanuel, Josephine and her husband Emanuel, Natalie and her husband Tarcisio, Silvana and her husband Martin, Joe and his wife Caroline, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for St Joseph the Worker church in Birkirkara where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at the Burmarrad cemetery’s family grave. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

EBEJER – On April 21, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, JOE, aged 56, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy church. He leaves to mourn his loss his mother Ġużeppa, his siblings Ninu and his wife Doris, Alfred and his wife Margaret, Doris and her husband Joe, and Pawlu, nephews and nieces, his friends at the Soldalità ta’ San Bastjan, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for St Sebastian parish church, Qormi, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Qormi cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital for their care. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

FRENDO. On April 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, GIUSA, aged 94, née Felice, widow of Joe, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Henri and his wife Margaret, Rose and her husband David Scicluna, Michael and his wife Irene, her brother and sisters Mary Spiteri-Paris, Robbie and his wife Stella Felice, and Annie, her grandchildren Juliana and her husband Daniel, Benjamin and Oliver, James and his wife Dana, Sandra and Adriana, Luke, Sara and Julia, many nephews and nieces and their respective families, other in-laws, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow for St Publius parish church, Floriana, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. MONTEBELLO. On April 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, HELEN, aged 62, from Qormi but residing in Birkirkara, passed away peacefully comforted by the rite of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Michael, Maria, Daniela, Margaret and Anton, their spouses, grandchildren Alessia, Gianluca, Giulia, Alessandro, Giuseppe, Malcolm, Abigail and Matthias, her siblings, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1 p.m. for St George parish church in Qormi where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 1.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Tower Road, Għar il-Lembi and Ġużè Howard streets, Sliema.

Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Lapsi, St Mark, St Michael and M.A. Vassalli, in St Julians.

Traffic deviations

Because of events being held in connection with the 13th International Symposium on Fireworks, particular traffic arrangements will be in place in Mdina/Mtarfa, Mellieħa and St Paul’s Bay as follows:

Today – Mdina/Mtarfa
Triq l-Istazzjon will be closed until 6 a.m. tomorrow and part of Triq il-Maltin Internati u Eżiljati will be closed and no parking allowed between 6 p.m. and midnight.

Wednesday – Mellieħa
Traffic coming from Ċirkewwa will not be allowed through Mellieħa and will be diverted via Popeye Village. Residents will not be affected by these arrangements.

For the convenience of those wishing to attend the event, the Mellieħa local council will offer a free Park & Ride service from the parking known as Belleview to the centre of the locality.

Thursday – St Paul’s Bay
No parking will be allowed and Islet Promenade will be closed be­tween 6 a.m. and midnight, from the Jetty to Gillieru. Toni Bajada Street and Buġibba Road will be closed to traffic from 5 p.m. to midnight.
