Reigning formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel won the Bahrain grand prix in a revamped Red Bull today and leapfrogged to the top of the championship table.

He led from pole and was closely followed by former champion Kimi Raikonnen and Romain Grosjean, both in Lotus (Renault).

Mark Webber came fourth in the second Red Bull followed by the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg, Paul di Resta in a Force India, Fernando Alonso in a Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton who started from second but lacked speed and was delayed in all of his three pitstops. Team-mate Jenson Button retired.
