The women’s league came to a close on Saturday with La Salle Trendi securing their fifth title following a convincing victory over Luxol.

The team, coached by John Falzon, only lost one match and succeeded in beating former cham-pions Aloysians in all rounds.

La Salle’s success takes further significance when one considers that the club had lost the services of some key players in pre-season, namely Celaine Ellul, Louise Aquilina, Yvonne Barry and Bulgarian Kami Dobrancheva.

After an upset in the MHA Cup, Falzon’s girls bounced back and beat Aloysians in the Super Cup final.

La Salle had started their league trek with an unexpected defeat to newcomers Phoenix. But the team fought back in style winning the next nine matches to clinch the title.

Stephaine Desjardins was the league’s top scorer with 59 goals.
