The Malta Stock Exchange recently held a breakfast meeting for representatives of all the companies which are listed on the Exchange to outline the key features of Xetra, the new trading platform to be launched in June. Xetra is a fully electronic trading system that is hosted by the Deutsche Börse and sets the highest standards in terms of reliability, security, speed and innovation.

Besides the standard trading features which are fully compliant with the financial services standards and directives within the EU, the new platform will allow the Exchange and its trading participants to be connected to a fully electronic network of 4,500 traders in 18 countries.

Eileen Muscat, CEO of the Malta Stock Exchange said: “The new trading platform fits in well with our strategy to strengthen the international dimension that the Exchange needs to develop new business opportunities and is a natural partner system to the Clearstream link that for the past year has facilitated the provision of custodial services to Maltese as well as international investors.”
