Active Group, one of the leading global compliance organisations, based in the Channel Islands, is to host a key event in association with the Malta Financial Services Authority.

The half-day seminar will focus on financial regulation affecting the marketing and selling process within the financial services industry. Leading figures from the Maltese investment services sector will be attending the event, including company directors, chief executive officers, marketing executives and compliance officers.

The seminar, which is being held at the offices of the Malta Financial Services Authority in Attard, will take place on April 26.

Speakers will cover topics such as consumer protection requirements relating to marketing financial services products, disclosure requirements for information to clients and treating clients fairly.

A key part of the morning will concentrate on marketing strategy and compliance support and ethical advertising practices.

This section will be delivered by Brian Horsepool, managing director of Active Compliance Services Limited and Claire Gauci, who heads up Active Group in Malta.

Ms Gauci said: “The financial crisis that began in 2008 was not just about investors’ disappointment at the fall in value of their assets.

“The crisis revealed significant issues with the manner in which clients’ investment and risk profiles were assessed and represented. Working closely with the Malta Financial Services Authority we intend to explain to the leading industry figures how suitable compliance and marketing strategies, harnessed together, can lead to higher levels of customer satisfaction, which is the basis of lasting business success.”

Other speakers include Geoffrey Bezzina, director of the consumer affairs unit at the MFSA, Daniele Cop, a partner at law firm Mamo TCV and John Paul Zammit, an associate with Mamo TCV.

Further information on the seminar is available from the MFSA website under the Conferences/Seminars/Events section or from Claire Gauci on claire.gauci@active.com.mt.
