Workers at Air Malta were being left hanging about their future and should be given the opportunity to rethink their decisions if delays persist, the Union Haddiema Maghqudin said this morning.

It said in a statement that several workers who months ago applied to benefit from the offered retirement schemes had not yet been given an answer about their application.

Workers who had applied for alternative employment with public entities had also not been given a reply, in spite of taking part in the selection process.

This situation was creating uncertainty as these workers were being limited in their possibility to find alternative employment and plan their future.

This, the union said, was in contrast with the pressure workers had had to decide about the schemes.

The UHM said that the workers who opted to remain with the airline had not yet been given information about changes in their working hours which should come into effect in the coming days.

Those who applied for new jobs internally and were chosen were also not given any information on salaries and conditions even though they had already taken up their new roles.

The workers who were still with the airline, the union said, were not informed when they were to start benefitting from a three per cent wage increase or from the payment of €4,500 they were promised as part of the reform.
