The Hibs Stadium will again be the venue for another rugby international match as Malta play Sweden in a Nations Cup Group 2A qualifier on April 21 (kick-off 2 p.m.).

Malta is placed 42nd in the international rankings with pool leaders Sweden set to improve on their current 38th position.

The last time the Swedes played in Malta, they were pipped to the post by Damian Neill’s men 25-23 with the very last kick of the match. Sweden took their revenge last year after winning 24-13 at home.

Sweden are already guaranteed promotion as Malta are in a mid-table position with no extra play-off games to play to determine their ranking for the next competition.

For this match, Neill has unearthed yet another talent – solid back rower Daniel Apsee, who plays for Bridgend in the Welsh National League.

With Charlie Sammut returning from injury, the back row should be a powerful influence against Sweden. Every running side needs a solid front row to anchor the ball production and the Malta three will present a good bedrock in the face of a solid Swedish trio.

The team will be residing at the Intercontinental Hotel before the match.

Meanwhile, pre-paid tickets are available at a discounted price of €7 for adults and €2 for children.

These may be purchased from rugby clubs or various outlets including all branches of Maltapost and Exotique. More details may be obtained by visiting www.maltarugby.com.
