Paranga restaurant in St George’s Bay is offering a celebration of mussels during lunch and dinner every Friday.

The mussels will be cooked and served in the typical and traditional methods used in Piedmont, Sicily, Emilia-Romagna and Valle d’Aosta.

The price per person is €23, including a glass of white wine or a beer and three hours of free parking at the Eden car park.

Paranga has recently reopened for spring by the sea with an Italian-inspired menu.

The new manager, Andrea Schranz Depasquale, along with Italian chef Giuseppe Puccarelli and his team, have created an innovative menu that includes grilled scampi set on sautéed asparagus, seaweed powder and beetroot olive oil; swordfish carpaccio with orange, capers and onion, dressed with citrus-flavoured oil; red prawn sushi, grilled water melon, soya cloud and wasabi dressing; and veal and beef ravioli, with a Pecorino cheese velouté.

Also included are tagliatelle with seafood in a light prawn flavoured bisque; risotto with scampi, candied orange and fizzy mint; tagliata of fillet of beef cooked in 12-year-old Jameson whisky, served with artichokes, pine-nuts and thyme oil; 36-hour confit of pork belly, with a warm cannelini bean salad, and beetroot caramelised sauce; and slow cooked organic chicken breast, truffle sauce and grilled endives with an orange perfume.

Desserts include pistachio crème brûlée with croquant and fresh fruit, pannacotta al Frangelico in zuppa di cioccolato e caffe e frutti di bosco and crunchy Belgian chocolate mousse with praline Bavaroise.
