A group of European Studies students at the Convent of the Sacred Heart Foundation, St Julian’s, recently held an educational trip to Brussels, Belgium.
The students visited EU institutions such as the European Parliament and the European Commission as well as Dar Malta.
They met MEPs Simon Busuttil and Joseph Cuschieri. The students were also given the opportunity to take part in a role play game in the Parliamentarium in the European Parliament building to understand better the work of MEPs and the Council of Ministers.
At the European Commission, they met Edward Demicoli and Frank Zammit who explained European Commissioners’ role and that of civil servants who assist them in their work.
The trip helped the students to clearly see the difference between the EU institutions and the Maltese parliament, to appreciate more the EU’s importance, and the relevannce of their studies to life and their future careers.
