January saw a sharp drop in the number of arrivals and nights spent in accommodation establishments in Gozo, according to the National Statistics Office.
The number of arrivals plunged by 22 per cent and nights spent in Gozo went down by nearly 12 per cent when compared to the same period last year. Malta also registered a decline in total arrivals in January, albeit to a lesser degree. Arrivals amounted to 56,095, down two per cent from last year.
Almost all collective accommodation establishments registered drops in the number of nights, except for the four-star hotel category, which registered an increase of 10.8 per cent.
