Twelve migrant workers were killed today when a fire tore through a market warehouse on the southern outskirts of Moscow, the city's emergencies ministry said.

"Twelve people died. They were migrant workers. We are trying to confirm which (ex-Soviet) republic they came from," an emergencies ministry spokesman told AFP.
