Vaccine for dog disease

The only vaccine ever produced against the potentially lethal disease Canine Leishmaniosis is now available in Malta.

The main carrier of Leishmaniosis is the sand fly, which can also transfer the parasite from infected animals to humans. The vaccine is called CaniLeish.

Malta is considered as an area with high risk of infection on dogs. Regular visits to the vet and vaccination of dogs over six months help prevent the disease.

Developed by Virbac Animal Health, global manufacturer of veterinary medicines and vaccines, the vaccine was launched during a lecture organised by Serolf Trading Agency Ltd, specialist importers of animal health products.
