Rainfall in March was well above average for the month, with 58.4mm being registered at Luqa compared to the norm of 41 mm.

With a mean temperature of 13.1°C, March was also slightly cooler than usual (13.4°).

The highest temperature was on March 28, was 20.4°C, while a minimum temperature of 6.9°C was recorded on March 13.

The month saw a lower than average monthly wind speed, despite a brief spell of gale-force wind that saw several residents locked in their homes over the weekend.

The highest wind gust – 49 knots – was registered by the Airport MetOffice on March 9, followed by gusts of 48 knots on March 10, 34 knots on March 11and 36 knots on March 12.

However, the monthly average wind speed measured at the airport was 7.5 knots, which is notably lower than the monthly climate average of 10.2 knots.
