What surprises me the most in this country is the fact that parliamentarians state they listen to what the public has to say, and yet, bottom line, it just goes into one ear and out of the other.

The government should think what the future holds for us all and should seriously begin to foresee what traffic will look like in the years to come- David Demajo, St Julians

Many persons have written about the traffic conditions at Msida which have become deplorable. Some bright person decided to utilise the ramp on the right, solely for those drivers who wish to go to Valletta! Most, or nearly all those drivers who would be at that location, would most likely have been to Valletta and are now going somewhere else.

Consequently, we now have a line of traffic, wanting to go towards Valley Road, another for those wishing to go to the Regional road, and another line for the traffic taking the exit after the ramp. To add to all this confusion, we have the traffic coming from Ta’ Xbiex, that has to cut across these three rows of traffic in order to go to Blata l-Bajda/Valley Road. Then, we have policemen who exit their station at Msida, booklets in hand, ready to fine drivers who have used the ramp!

To further add to this bedlam, the traffic lights situated on the exit for Gżira/Sliema change very quickly, and as such the queue of cars going to take this exit hardly moves.

With the ever increase of vehicles on the roads today, it is high time the government did something to improve the flow of traffic, either by building new roads or by not making big mistakes like the one we have at Msida.

Another place that is in great need of attention is the large roundabout on the Regional Road. There were persons who criticised the installation of all those traffic lights; however I sincerely think they should be put to work once again. Traffic from four different directions all meet at this roundabout, with the result that traffic jams are very frequent.

The government should think what the future holds for us all, and should seriously begin to foresee what traffic will look like in the years to come. The longer they delay, the less chance they have of building much needed roads to help ease the constant traffic that we have to face on a daily basis.
