An earthquake measuring 6.3 struck southwestern Mexico this evening, in a region in which two people died in a quake last month, US experts said.

The earthquake struck at 1736 GMT some 27 kilometers (17 miles) from Ometepec, in the southern state of Guerrero, at a depth of 12.3 kilometers (7.6 miles), the US Geological Survey said.
