Alternattiva Demokratika said that it was scandalous that the government had put IVF legislation on the back burner for so long, more so when a consensus position was reached in parliament on the issue.

Without making any direct reference to comments by the Bishop of Gozo, the party said that depicting IVF as some form of evil  and painting supporters of a reproductive technology which mimics and helps nature run its course was unfair and uncalled for.

'It is also strange that after years of lack of legislation regulating this sector, IVF suddenly becomes objectionable only now. As usual the government is neither here, nor there, and prefers sitting on the fence on this issue,' AD said.
