Former chart-toppers Wet Wet Wet have announced they will perform a one-off concert this summer to mark the band’s 25th anniversary.

The show is at Glasgow Green on July 20, making it the band’s first gig in almost five years.

During the announcement at Glasgow City Chambers, the band performed the record-breaking chart hit Love Is All Around, as well as Goodnight Girl and Temptation.

The band, made up of Marti Pellow, Graeme Clark, Tommy Cunningham and Neil Mitchell, released their debut single Wishing I Was Lucky 25 years ago last week.

They went on to have 27 hits, selling more than 15 million records and featuring in the UK singles and albums charts for a total of 508 weeks.

It’s been more than 20 years since the Scottish band played a huge concert at Glasgow Green in 1989.

Lead singer Marti Pellow said: “I love singing with Wet Wet Wet. To get to play all those classic pop songs in my hometown will make it a special day for the fans and us.”

Tommy Cunningham said: “It was a major honour and career highlight when we took to the stage at Glasgow Green some 20 years ago.

“We feel humbled and even more honoured to have that opportunity again.”
