A 21-year-old man from Marsascala was jailed for one year suspended for two this afternoon after he pleaded guilty to hunting during the closed season. His shotgun and ammunition were confiscated.

Nazzareno Grech also pleaded guilty to being in possession of an unlicenced shotgun which he carried without authorisation and insurance and shooting in a public road  r in habitable areas.

Mr Grech was also charged with hunting without a licence in closed season, carrying a loaded gun in distances of less than 50 or 200 metres from habitable areas and attempting to hunt with a gun with a magazine which could take more than two cartridges.
