Hibernians reignited their title challenge with a hard-fought 4-1 victory over Balzan Youths at the Hibs Stadium this afternoon.

The Paolites made a tremendous start to the match as after only four minutes they were already ahead. Clayton Failla’s dangerous low cross was perfectly met by Jackson Lima who hammered the ball past Balzan goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri.

Hibs continued to dominate but they could not find a second goal and instead it was Balzan who drew level on the stroke of half-time when Pedrinho’s firm drive beat goalkeeper Nicholas Grima.

The Paolites managed to regain the lead on 54 minutes when the Balzan defence failed to deal with Jackson Lima free-kick and in came Andrew Cohen who volleyed the ball home.

Mark Miller’s team added a third goal three minutes from time when substitute Marcelo Dias fired home from the edge of the area.

Hibs had time to score a fourth goal on 89 minutes when Dias picked Pisani who blasted the ball into the net.

Hibs midfielder Andrew Cohen was voted as BOV Player of the match.
