The man who was yesterday apprehended by the police after a car chase through Sliema has been jailed four months after he pleaded guilty to breaching bail conditions and being a relapser.

Joseph Sharfid, 36, of Valletta, also had his bail revoked.

In an arraignment earlier today, he pleaded not guilty to injuring, attacking, threatening and resisting a police officer.

Mr Sharfid also pleaded not guilty to damaging a police car, driving dangerously and carelessly, breaching the peace and disobeying police orders.

The police yesterday chased Mr Sharfid when he refused to stop and at one point he drove over a policeman's foot.

He was caught in Manuel Dimech Street, Sliema, when he got out of his car and ran away.
