CHELSEA: Chelsea were left fuming yesterday after their request to reschedule next month’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Tottenham was turned down. The Blues were notified that the Wembley semi-final has been set for 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, with the club possibly set to face a Champions League semi-final three days later. Chelsea had requested the match be moved to Friday, April 13.

MASCOT: Two South Korean clubs have been fined after fan violence broke out last week in which a team mascot was beaten up. Incheon United were fined five million won ($4,396) and ordered to play a home game at a neutral venue. Daejeon Citizen will have to pay 10 million won, with their fans banned from two future fixtures.

GOMEZ: Wigan midfielder Jordi Gomez has shown his commitment to the English Premier League club by signing a new two-year contract. Wigan are second from bottom of the league with eight games remaining, but despite the threat of relegation Gomez, 26, will remain with the club until 2014. His contract was due to expire in the summer.

LAVEZZI: Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi has refused to commit to the club next season and says a robbery at his former home in Naples has made him wary of entering the city. “My future depends on many factors,” he said. “I’m happy here, the episode with the robbery has been forgotten, now we are in a lovely place. It’s difficult to visit the city but the fans show me great affection.”

CHEDJOU: Champions Lille, third on 53 points, will be without injured defender Aurelien Chedjou when they host Toulouse tomorrow. Chedjou left the pitch after five minutes last weekend at Evian Thonon Gaillard and will be sidelined for a couple of weeks with a thigh injury.

LIVERPOOL: Liverpool will play Tottenham in Baltimore in July, it was confirmed yesterday as the Reds revealed more details of their pre-season tour to North America. The US-owned side will face Spurs in Baltimore on July 28, three days after facing Serie A side Roma.

IN ENGLAND: The Championship – Doncaster vs Birmingham 1-3. League Two – Southend vs Cheltenham 4-0.
