Obituary

AQUILINA. On March 28, SALVINO, of Blata l-Bajda, aged 90, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Edith, his son Mario, his sisters Sister Paolina of the Benedictine Order, Inez and Rita, his nephews Alfio, Silvio, Tonio and his niece Maria and their families, his sister-in-law Eileen Mifsud, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Gaetano parish church, Ħamrun where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret that they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MALLIA. On March 26, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIA, née Cordina, widow of Toni of Marsa, aged 96, passed away comforted by the rites of Holy Catholic Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter-in-law Doris, widow of her son Joseph, Laurie and his wife Melanie of Australia, Alfred and his wife Doris, Ġemma, Antoinette and her husband Joe Borg of Australia, Carmen and her husband Emanuel, Fr Effie Mallia, OFM Cap., parish priest of San Ġwann, Raymond and his wife Marian, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, relatives and friends and the residents of Pax et Bonum Home, Mosta, all the nuns and staff. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1 p.m. for Maria Regina parish church, Marsa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.

MILLER. On March 27, HENRY, aged 103, passed away peacefully at the Holy Family Home for the Elderly, Naxxar, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss, his children James and his wife Patricia, Richard and his wife Joan, Alan and his wife Marisa, his grandchildren Shirley, Nigel, Mark, Christopher and his wife Kirsten, Elaine and her husband James, Christine, Michael and Daniela, his brother John in Perth, Australia, as well as his friend Betty, nephews and nieces, relatives, his friends and all the devoted staff at the Holy Family Home. The funeral leaves the Holy Family Home on March 31 at 9 a.m. Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m. at the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy, San Pawl tat-Tarġa, Naxxar. No flowers by request but donations to the Holy Family Home, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

STUNT BISAZZA. On March 19, IOLANDA, of Brighton, UK, passed away peacefully, aged 68. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Victor, her daughters Jacqueline, and Juliet wife of David Boothby, her grandchildren Max, Joseph and Mia, her sisters Anna, wife of Emy Scicluna, Juliette, widow of Guido Zanni, and Laura, wife of Henry Caruana, her brother Mario and his wife Catherine, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. A Mass for the repose of her soul will be announced at a later date.

WIRTH. On March 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY VICTOR, of Sliema, aged 87, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad and irreparable loss his wife Anne, née Portanier, his beloved children Dr Sandra Wirth, Lorraine and her husband Dr Bryan Flores Martin, Audrey and her husband David Brockdorff, and respective grandchildren Kyle, Andreas, James and Nicole, his sisters and brothers, Maria, widow of President Emeritus Dr Ċensu Tabone, Philip and his wife Georgina, Sister Elena of the Sisters of Charity, Jeannine, widow of Ian Edington, Fr Robert Wirth, SJ, in-laws Frank Portanier, Marina, wife of Eric Symes, and Lillian Portanier, other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held on March 31, leaving Mater Dei Hospital for St Gregory parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be offered at 8.45 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to the Malta Community Chest Fund, Valletta, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Requiem Masses

Today being the 25th anniver-sary of the death of MARIKA NAUDI, née Hili, a Mass for the repose of her soul will be said at 6.30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception parish church, Tal-Ibraġ, St Andrews. The attendance of relatives and friends will be appreciated.

On the initiative of the St Julians parish, a Mass for the repose of the soul of Dr ĊENSU TABONE will be said today at 7 p.m. at St Julians parish church. All are most welcome to attend.

Uniform Free Day

The Victoria Gozo primary school will be holding a Uniform Free Day in aid of Puttinu Cares on Tuesday. Students will donate €1 each and remember beneficiaries in their prayers. The funds collected will support the Puttinu Cares’ €3 million national project in Sutton, London where 12 apartments are being built to host patients and their families.

Marsa pilgrimage

Archbishop Paul Cremona will lead a Via Crucis at Marsa on April 4 at 8 p.m. Those taking part in the pilgrimage meet near the Marsa open centre where the Archbishop, the Imam and Coptic Rector will join in prayer and then head towards the Marsa Trinity parish church. The event is organised by RTK Radio and the Archdiocese’s Pastoral Secretary.

Open days

The medieval chapels of Ħal Millieri in Żurrieq and Bir Miftuħ in Gudja and the Msida Bastion Historic Garden in Floriana will be open for the public between 9 a.m. and noon on Sunday. Admission is free but donations to Din l-Art Ħelwa are welcome.

Marsascala sub-post office

The Maltapost sub-post office at 34, Midas, Triq ix-Xatt, Marsascala, will be closed for business on Monday. People can go to the Żabbar post office at the Civic Centre, Triq il-Kunvent or the Żejtun post office at 37, Triq San Luċjan.

Summer school volunteers

The Volunteers for Cottonera team is recruiting people over 17 to help in the planning of its summer school. Volunteers will be trained on classroom management, team building and basic first aid among others in the first week of July. The summer school runs between July and September.
