Villa Corinthia Attard was the setting for a successful working breakfast organised by the Embassy of Spain and the Maltese-Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
The objective of the breakfast was to describe Spain’s present economic situation and the structural reforms set in motion by the Spanish Government, while explaining the strengths of Spain’s economy and the economic sectors with the best potential and projection in order to promote Spanish-Maltese economic relations.
The presentation was carried out mainly by two distinguished Spanish professors of economics, Alejandro Lorca from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid and Gonzalo Escribano, from UNED (Open University of Spain).
In his introductory remarks Spanish Ambassador Felipe de la Morena underlined the Spanish government’s determination to get Spain back on the track of economic growth and creation of jobs, for which a sound policy on fiscal discipline and major essential structural reforms have already been set in motion, mainly in the labour market, as well as in the fiscal and financial sector.
He also highlighted the desire to enhance the economic relations between Malta and Spain through bilateral business missions on sectors of common interest.
The event was attended by guests from a diverse range of private businesses, professions, academics and institutions in Malta.
