Obituary
CAMILLERI. On March 26, FRANCESCA, née Ellul, of Luqa, aged 89, widow of Thomas, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Carmeline, Grace and Alfred Gatt, Theresa and Anthony Magri, Joyce and Joe Cauchi, Andre and Sonia Camilleri, Fr Rene Camilleri, Rita and Beppe Rizzo, Emily and Cecil Chircop, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother Fr Raphael Ellul, OFM Cap., and her sisters Doris Ellul, Sr Dorothy Ellul SJA, and Rena Schembri, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Hospital tomorrow at 2.45 p.m. for St Andrew parish church, Luqa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment at Luqa cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
CEFAI. On March 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, JULIAN of St Julians and residing at Serena Home for the Elderly, Buġibba, aged 83, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Margareth and their four sons Martin, Brian, Edmund and Kenneth, their respective spouses and his beloved grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.15 p.m. for St Julians parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
MICALLEF. On March 26, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMELO (Il-Mike), Commercial Artist, of Valletta, residing in Sliema, aged 93, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Gaetana, his only son Edward and his wife Anna, his grandchildren Krista and her husband Marco, Kerstien and his wife Nicolette and Luke, his great-granddaughter, his brother Victor and his wife Milvia, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for St Gregory parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Salesians, Osanna Pia Home, Sliema, will be appreciated. Special thanks to the doctors and staff of Mater Dei Hospital. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.
SULTANA. On March 26, SHIRLEY, née Mifsud, aged 34, passed away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She will be missed by her husband James, her mother Josephine, widow of Emanuel, her sisters Romina and fiancé David, Marica and Mariella, her grandmother Concetta, her mother-in-law Maria Rosaria, widow of Emmanuel, her brother-in-law Walter and his wife Lorna, relatives and friends. Funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be said today at 3.30 p.m. at St Nicholas parish church in Siġġiewi, followed by interment at Siġġiewi cemetery.
VELLA. On March 19, at Royal Marsden Hospital, UK, MARCO, aged 35, former HSBC employee, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents Ġużeppi and Rita, his sisters Carmen and her husband Osterious, Mary and her husband David and Doris, his nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2.30 p.m. for St Nicholas parish church, Siġġiewi, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment at Siġġiewi cemetery. The family would appreciate that instead of flowers donations will be given to Puttinu Cares, Mater Dei Hospital.

Young theatre contest
Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and the Malta Drama Centre have launched a contest for young Maltese theatre groups.
Interested drama troupes, made up of people aged between 18 and 30, should present an original performance that has never been presented, and which is no longer than 30 minutes. The piece should target a small audience of not more than 100 people. A selection committee will evaluate and review all applications while a panel of independent judges will select the winning scripts in order of merit. The judges’ decision will be final. The three finalists will receive €500, €300 and €200 on November 2.

Commemorative stamp set
The Philatelic Bureau of Maltapost will tomorrow issue a philatelic commemorative set of five stamps to mark two internationally renowned artists: Henry Mayo Bateman (1887-1970) and Edward Lear (1812-1888) who both visited and painted scenes of Malta and Gozo.
A total of 500,000 stamps carry a face value of 20c, 60,000 stamps will carry a face value of 67c and 40,000 stamps will each have the following denominations; 26c, 37c and 97c.
The stamps measure 44mm x 31mm with a perforation of 13.9 x 14.0.

Funds for homes
More than €50,000 was collected in the 13th edition of the annual Ħamrun Liceo Bicycle Marathon which took place recently. The money will be used by Angela House in Guardamanga and Piccola Casa Di San Giuseppe in Valletta for various projects. People can continue donating €2.33 by sending a text message to 5061 7383.
