• More than 30 per cent of Maltese households have installed satellite or internet-based TV.

• 77.1 per cent of Maltese watch television for at least half an hour everyday.

• 46.3 per cent of Maltese readers prefer to read in English.

• Only 7.1 per cent of the Maltese population prefer to watch a film at the cinema. A majority of 48.4 per cent watch films on TV, while 21.5 per cent would rather rent or buy a film. 9.5 per cent download their films while the remaining 13.4 per cent never watch films.

• Malta enjoys a 64.3 per cent internet penetration.

• Maltese Facebook users amount to more than 192,000.

• In the past year, 71.5 per cent of Maltese have read at least one book. This is divided into 58.2 per cent females and 41.8 per cent males. 30.1 of these readers read between four and seven books.

• 23.7 per cent of Maltese never listen to the radio.

• One third of Maltese readers prefer a romantic story.

• 58.2 per cent of Maltese readers read news articles that feature current affairs while 9.8 per cent are interested in sports-related articles. Just 1.2 per cent prefer reading financial and economic news.
