With God’s help and thanks to the generosity of benefactors, the Angels Children’s Home in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is getting along well. We have already bought a bus for the children to take them to see a little of their beautiful country.

Last September we placed 11 of our 24 children in a boarding school in Dessie and now we have taken six new children from the street aged between five and 10. The two youngest ones are going to Vikas Academy kindergarten and the other three are attending the Jerusalem School; hopefully in September they will join the other children at Lazarist School.

The 11 boys we have placed in a boarding school at Dessie are over 15 years old, as the Ethiopian government does not want us to have children over a certain age in the home.

We would like to keep on helping them till they enter university. Unfortunately they are not happy at Dessie Boarding School so in June we hope to find somewhere else for their study and lodging and we will continue to sponsor them.

A blind boy, who was with the Missionaries of Charity, had no schooling, and we found it difficult to get him a good school as, being 14, he was already too old, but luckily the German School accepted him and he is now in Grade 9, and so now we had to place him in another school, Mekane Jesus, as he is studying to go to University. He is hoping to become a lawyer. Another boy, who is physically disabled, is doing very well; he is attending the Lazarist School and is coping quite well.

Thanks to our benefactors, all the children are doing leather work in addition to bamboo work and agriculture. We would like all of them to go on to university and have a good job; we hope to admit more children to the home.
