Othello workshops at Junior College

Globe actor and tutor Tom Davey recently visited Malta to run various workshops on the Shakespeare play Othello.

One workshop was for first year advanced students as an introduction to the play and another was for the second year students nearing the end of their studies.

The Junior College’s Department of English, organiser of the event, has for a number of years been holding activities to offer its students broader first-hand experiences of the texts they would be studying at Advanced and Intermediate level.

Each year the students attend a workshop at London’s Globe Theatre specifically designed for them focusing on the Shakespearean play they would be studying.

Students have also been taken to visit the former Somme battlefields in France, which provided a real and poignant background to their studies on Wilfred Owen’s war poetry.
