The Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio is presenting an evening of sacred music and reflections for Holy Week at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, on Saturday at 7.15 p.m.

The concert will include a variety of music from Baroque to modern, sung by a 45-strong choir and soloists from the Voice Studio, under the direction of Marie Therese Vassallo.

Special guests will be the Johann Strauss Clarinet Ensemble, directed by Godfrey Mifsud, and a group of dancers from the Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Dance, who will be presenting a scene about Our Lady of Sorrows, to choreography by Brigitte Gauci Borda, while the choir sings O Madonna tad-Duluri, written by Frank Vassallo.

The choir will sing The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross unaccompanied in polyphonic style; between each sung phrase, there will be reflections interpreted by actors Vanni Riolo as Jesus Christ and Mary Grech as the Blessed Virgin.
