The European Court of Auditors has elected Louis Galea as audit dean following a change in its composition after five new members joined.
The European Court of Auditors is responsible for the audit of EU funds and is based in Luxembourg. It is split into five chambers, each headed by a dean.
Dr Galea was elected Dean of Chamber IV which is responsible for the audit of the policy areas of research, information society and media, enterprise, education and culture, freedom, security and justice, economic and financial affairs and the administrative expenditure of the Commission and the other institutions, bodies, offices and agencies.
The responsibilities of the Chamber cover €19.5 billion of expenditure from the EU’s budget together with all of the EU’s revenue.
