Valletta player Alfred Effiong has been banned for three matches by the MFA disciplinary board. Effiong was sent off for brusquely pushing Birkirkara's Rodrigo Pereira to the ground as the two chased a long ball inside the Birkirkara box on Tuesday.

He will be missing his team's matches against Sliema, Floriana and Hibs.

Moses Perez of Birkirkara, Duncan Pisani of Floriana and Anicet Eyenga of Sliema were banned for two matches each.

Valletta team manager Gerald Ellul has also been banned for two matches.

One match bans were handed to Miguel Ciantar, Dylan Grima and Clifton Ciantar of Balzan, John Mintoff of Floriana, Edison Luis dos Santon (Hibs) Mark Scerri (sliema) Edmond Agius and Roderick Briffa of Valletta.
