A couple who made their name creating punk pottery the year after punk rockers the Sex Pistols sang an anarchic version of the National Anthem have produced a heart-shaped teapot to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Potters Tony and Anita Carter, both based in Debenham, Suffolk, specialise in making teapots, launched their business with a beaker which had a safety pin through it in 1978 – the year after the Queen celebrated her Silver Jubilee and the year after the Sex Pistols released God Save The Queen.

One of their latest offerings is red, white and blue, heart-shaped, has a picture of the Queen on the front, a Union Flag on top and costs more than £60.

Military choir album at number one

The Military Wives Choir has marched to the top of the album chart with the debut record, the Official Charts Company said.

In My Dreams has earned the much coveted number one spot two weeks after it was released. The title track of the album sees former X Factor hopeful Jonjo Kerr joining the ranks of the choir on the track In My Dreams. The song is a romantic duet, sung by a man who is parted from his lover overseas.

He will be celebrating the achievement in Afghanistan where he is serving as a private in 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment.

The wives topped the Christmas singles chart with their song Wherever You Are under the guidance of mentor Gareth Malone who put the group together for a BBC2 series.

Panda birth could be live online

Edinburgh Zoo is considering streaming the birth of its first baby panda live on the internet.Giant pandas Tian Tian and Yang Guang arrived in Scotland from Ya’an reserve in Chengdu, China, on December 4 last year.

They went on show to zoo visitors for the first time on December 16 after being acclimatised to their new surroundings.

Tian Tian, like all female pandas, is said to have only three days a year when she will be ready to mate and that breeding window is expected anytime from the end of this month until early May.

Iain Valentine, director of animal conservation and research at the zoo, told the Scotland on Sunday newspaper: “It could be that we would be able to give the world the view of the panda giving birth live.”
