Hamrun man accused of punching traffic policeman

A 34-year-old man who allegedly punched a traffic policeman who stopped him in Hamrun on Saturday, ended up in court today. Roderick Cilia, who is from Hamrun, is accused of having hit the policeman at 11.15 a.m. near Hamrun Junior Lyceum on Saturday.

A 34-year-old man who allegedly punched a traffic policeman who stopped him in Hamrun on Saturday, ended up in court today.

Roderick Cilia, who is from Hamrun, is accused of having hit the policeman at 11.15 a.m. near Hamrun Junior Lyceum on Saturday. He then drove off. The policeman needed to be seen by a doctor.

Cilia was also accused of disobeying police orders and breaking the conditions of a suspended sentence.

Bail was granted against a deposit of €300 and a personal guarantee of  €2.000.

Inspector Kevin Farrugia prosecuted.
