Twenty-four students from Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary, Naxxar, recently travelled to Strasbourg to take part in the Euroscola programme.

The students took part in debates on topics related to the work of the EU ranging from the environment to migration, European values, democracy, information technology and Europe’s future.

It gave the Maltese students the opportunity to share views with almost 650 students from all the EU member states.

The committee meetings and discussion sessions took place at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, where plenary sessions of the parliament are held.

The trip also included a visit to the European Court of Human Rights and the Council of Europe, and excursions to the city of Strasbourg and the town of Colmar.

The students chosen to take part had to sit for an exam held by the European Commission Representation in Malta.

During the visit the students were accompanied by teachers Noel Bartolo and Piera Xuereb.
