Malta and Gozo were showcased by the Malta Tourism Authority, the Gozo Tourism Association and local tourism industry partners at the 46th International Travel Bureau in Berlin earlier this month.
Tourism Minister Mario de Marco and MTA chief executive Josef Formosa Gauci gave presentations about the islands’ offering to journalists from leading German trade and consumer media.
Dr de Marco highlighted this year’s prioritised focus on the promotion of the capital as a manifold short- and city-break destination, and gave details about the Renzo Piano-designed City Gate projects, Valletta’s candidature for the European Capital of Culture 2018, and the significant increase in events such as the Isle of MTV concert, the Malta International Fireworks’ Festival, the International summer Arts Festival, the Malta Jazz Festival, and Notte Bianca.
Officials met representatives of the international travel trade and workshops were held for German tour operators and travel agents.
