Arriva employees recently visited the National Blood Transfusion Services in Guardamangia as part of the company’s first blood donation drive.

This event was organised as part of Arriva’s CSR plan, launched in January and which has already seen the local bus operator embark on a number of activities and campaigns, including its Għinni Nasal reach-out campaign for people seeking to re-integrate in society and aiding a number of charities/organisations, as well as sponsorship for the conservation of Ħal Millieri Chapel, among others.

Arriva’s Blood Donation Drive saw the participation of a group of employees from Arriva’s head office in Qormi as well as a number of service standard managers. A group of Arriva drivers also visited the National Blood Transfusion Services at the end of their shift to donate blood.

“The Corporate Social Responsibility plan we launched last January looks at different areas within our community where Arriva, as a Maltese company, feels it has a moral duty to help make a difference. We feel it is our responsibility to instil a social conscience in our company even though we are still very young,” said Arriva’s commercial manager Thomas Dimech.

Arriva’s blood donation drive ties into the internal health and safety campaign and the road safety campaign Arriva had launched at the end of last year with help from the Malta Police Force.

“Throughout our CSR plan, the central focus is always to make our communities better off and our country a better place to live in,” Mr Dimech added.
