Giuseppe Cutajar, 45, of Marsascala has been remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to the murder of Kevin Gatt, 32, of Ghaxaq on Thursday.

Mr Cutajar also pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Stephen Zammit, 32 of Ghaxaq and of seriously injuring Mr Zammit.

The police found Mr Gatt and Mr Zammit in a Hyundai at a basement garage in Triq Guzeppi Lanzon, Marsascala.

At least nine shots were fired by two types of semi-automatic firearms.

In the incident, Mr Cutajar was slightly injured.

Mr Cutajar was also charged with committing a crime using an unlicenced weapon.

He was charged with stealing a number of items, including a weapon and ammunition, from Zejtun and handling a stolen car.

Bail was not requested.
