Hibs 2, Floriana 0

Two well-taken goals from Brazilian midfielder Jackson Lima enabled Hibernians to edge past a battling Floriana side by two clear goals at the National Stadium this afternoon.

It was far from a vintage display from the Paolites who struggled to deal with the more aggressive Floriana and for most of the first half it was Floriana who created the better chances with Hibernians goalkeeper Mario Muscat distinguishing himself with series of good saves.

However, things look different on the restart as Hibernians were denied by the woodwork on 56 minutes when Marcelo Dias' s cross-shot came off the bar.

The decisive moment of the match came on 59 minutes when Failla set up Jackson Lima who unleashed a powerful drive that flew into the top corner of the net.

More woes followed for Floriana as on 66 minutes they were reduced to ten men when Duncan Pisani was dismissed after slapping in the face Jackson Lima.

Hibs all but wrapped up the points eight minutes from time when from a Failla corner kick the ball fell into the path of Jackson Lima who again beat Patrick Jansen with a powerful drive.

Hibs midfielder Jackson Lima was voted as the BOV Player of the Match.
