Finance Minister Tonio Fenech has left Malta for Brussels where he will be taking part in the European Trade Ministers' meeting, which will be discussing the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement.

The European Commission has referred the agreement to the European Court of Justice for a legal opinion.

The Maltese government has requested the Data Protection Commission to analyse and evaluate this agreement and advice Parliament's European Affairs Committee.

Acta will not be moved for the approval of the European Parliament before the European Court of Justice gives its assurance that it is in line with European legislation, it is approved by the European Parliament and it is signed by the states which have not yet done so.
