Several people paid their last respects to President Emeritus Censu Tabone today as he lay in state at the entrance of the Palace in Valletta.

Dr Tabone, one of the country's foremost physicians and statesmen, died on Wednesday, two weeks short of his 99th birthday.

Among those paying their respects were Opposition leader Joseph Muscat, Speaker Michael Frendo, the PN parliamentary group and administration and the Austrian and Greek ambassadors.

Dr Tabone's funeral is tomorrow.
