I wish to appeal to our politicians who are about to set in motion the law regarding IVF (in vitro fertilisation) to consider Pope Benedict’s exhortation to scientists of February 25, 2012.

If our politicians profess to be practising Catholics they need to realise that Pope Benedict warns of the arrogance of man with IVF while not investigating the causes of infertility. Fr Richard Nazzarno Farrugia expressed it brilliantly in his article How To Tackle Infertility (March 7).

After fertilisation, every embryo has a right to life but no adult has a right to be a parent.
