The Department of Pharmacy recently inaugurated a Pharmacy Practice Resource Unit (PPRU). The unit is a simulation of community pharmacy providing pharmacy students with a location that allows research-informed andpractice-based learning.

The unit has various sections, the largest of which displays various medications currently in use as well as discontinued medicines, a wound care display, vitamins and health supplements and baby formulas.

It also has books and journals, product literature, patient information leaflets, protocol booklets and the recently acquired electronic version of the ‘Martindale’ – a complete drug reference book, and the ‘British National Formulary On Formulary Complete’.

Several pharmaceutical companies donated medicines, medical devices, product literature and books to help set up the unit.
