Anton Dougall won two awards at the Gourmand Competition held in conjunction with the French Cookery Book Fair in Paris last week.

The books that won first prizes in different categories are Għaġina Ħelwa and Ikel Sajfi, forming part of the series Fil-Kċina m’Anton.

Meanwhile, Dougall will be serving Maltese cuisine four days a week at the Nero Bistro, St George’s Bay, St Julian’s.

Patrons will be able to try out recipes that feature in a new cookery book by Dougall to be published later this year.

For the past few years Dougall has been working on a cookery book based on his grandmother’s recipes. From Ġorġina he inherited his love for cookery, and Maltese food in particular.

Apart from the recipes, the book will also feature contributions about Maltese food through the ages by various food specialists.

The meals from the yet unpublished recipe book will be prepared at Nero Bistro on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday lunch.

The five-course meal, including coffee, costs €25. Dougall can cook for 30 guests at a time. For more information, call 2138 2394/5 or send an e-mail to info@astoriacatering.com.
