Alfred Effiong will have to miss Valletta’s opening Championship Pool match against Balzan Youths on Sunday after receiving a one-match ban yesterday.

The Nigerian forward collected his fourth booking after coming on as a substitute in the second half of Valletta’s 1-1 draw with Floriana last weekend.

Tarxien Rainbows will be without Everton for their first two Relegation Pool games. The Brazilian forward was punished for a red card he incurred as well as his fourth caution during the Rainbows’ 1-0 defeat to Balzan last Saturday.

Mosta forward Ian Zammit and Trevor Templeman, the Marsa-xlokk captain, were also given a one-match ban after both saw red last weekend.

Zammit and Templeman have been ruled out of their teams’ opening Relegation Pool fixtures against Ħamrun Spartans and Qormi respectively.
