Carlos Tevez marked his first public appearance for Manchester City in more than five months with a goal as the Premier League leaders’ reserves beat Bolton 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Tevez, who played for 45 minutes behind closed doors last week, appeared in front of a crowd of more than 1,000 boosted by media personnel in the Manchester district of Hyde.

Tevez, who had come close with a first-half free-kick, scored City’s equaliser in the 51st minute when he finished off a cross from fellow forward Harry Bunn from close range. Tevez was substituted shortly after his goal.

Hoddle keen on Chelsea return

Glenn Hoddle would love to have a second spell as Chelsea manager following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas but the former England boss expects the job to go to another overseas coach.

“I think they will probably keep with the policy of staying foreign, I really do,” Hoddle, 54, said.

“I was the last English manager to be there and that was a long, long time ago – over 15 years ago.

“That is staggering and I think they will probably go foreign, but it is strange because I loved working for the club. If they were prepared to look for an English manager, I would love to go back there. I really must say that.”

Qatari take full control of Paris SG

The US investment fund Colony Capital has sold its 30 per cent stake in Paris Saint-Germain, a company source said, making the Ligue 1 leaders wholly-owned by their Qatari investors.

The source said that the sale “was envisaged from the start” and comes after Qatar Sports Investments had already bought 70 per cent of Colony’s controlling stake in PSG a year ago.

The financial news site Wansquare earlier said that the transfer price of the balance of Colony’s shares puts the club’s overall value at €100 million or 30 per cent more than the price QSI paid last year to take control.

Gonzalez leaves Racing Santander

Racing Santander have parted company with coach Juan Jose Gonzalez after just four months in the post.

Gonzalez was named as caretaker manager at the end of November following the dismissal of Hector Cuper and, after a successful interim period, Racing announced in December that he would remain in charge until the end of the season.

However, following a poor run of form, the La Liga strugglers yesterday announced that Gon-zalez was no longer coach.

Fede Castanos and Pablo Pinillos, who were part of the coaching trio put in charge fol-lowing Cuper’s departure, will lead the team while Racing search for a permanent successor.

England may need Defoe – Redknapp

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp thinks England are suffering from a severe striker shortage ahead of this summer’s European Championship.

But the 65-year-old, over-whelming favourite to take over the manager’s role with the national team, reckons he could have the answer to the country’s problems in Jermain Defoe, despite overlooking the frontman for most of the season at White Hart Lane.

“I am sure he (Defoe) could make the squad,” Redknapp said.

“There is a shortage of strikers if you look at England now, it’s certainly a problem position.

“Darren Bent is out for the season, so suddenly you look at that and you think he (Defoe) has every chance of going.”

Pogba to join Juventus – reports

Paul Pogba is poised to leave Manchester United to join Juventus at the end of the season, according to media reports.

United have been keen to tie the 18-year-old midfielder to a longer contract but discussions stalled in recent weeks.

Pogba’s omission from Man-chester United’s squad for the Europa League home match against Ajax, only served to intensify speculation about his potential exit from Old Trafford with reports now claiming that the French youngster, who is represented by agent Mino Raiola, is now heading to the Juventus Stadium on a four-year deal.

United will get around £300,000 from Juventus as “training compensation” – a fee which will be determined by FIFA.

Busquets wants Olympics spot

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets wants to represent Spain in the Olympics as well as at Euro 2012.

Top clubs are unlikely to be keen on their star names playing two tournaments in the summer, but Busquets would be happy to see his name in both squads.

“I can be in both lists, very much,” he said.

“I want to play both and I can play both, but it depends on the selectors. My dream is to go but this depends on (Spain Olympic coach) Luis Milla.

“I will do everything possible to go. He knows I want to go.”
