• A sale of antique and old furniture is being held at St Helen parish centre, Birkirkara (behind the Basilica) on Thursday and Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon and from 4.30 to 8 pm; and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon.

• A silent weekend retreat for Lent for people aged between 17 and 30 will be held from Friday till Sunday at Mount St Joseph retreat centre, Tarġa Gap, Mosta. • A ‘Walk and Talk against Domestic Violence’ will take place on Sunday. The event is being organised by the Siġġiewi Youth Initiative to coincide with International Women’s Day. The walk will start at 10.30 a.m. from the ‘Love’ statue at Spinola Bay in St Julian’s and end opposite the Preluna hotel in Sliema. Along the way, talks will be delivered by director of the Smart Skin Clinic Joanna Dalia; chair of the Confederation of Women’s Organisations Renee Laiviera and family therapy expert Charlie Azzopardi. • Land (Living Ability Not Disability) Group is holding a carwash fundraiser on March 18 near Black Pearl, Ta’ Xbiex, from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. There will also be stands of food, beverages and cakes for sale. • The Malta Dyslexia Association (MDA) is holding a talk by dyslexia specialist and MDA president Carmen Muscat on March 23 at 6.30 p.m. at the Catholic Institute, Floriana. All are welcome to attend. The talk, entitled ‘Il-Qari bil-Malti’, will present strategies and techniques for helping children to learn to read and write in Maltese.
