Residents of Sliema deserve the best

Sliema residents are very proud of their locality. A Sliema person is always very proud to say that he or she is from Sliema. This locality has a lot of potential that still needs to be addressed and has a lot of beauties still to be discovered.

The central government is dedicating a lot of its resources to this locality so as to make it a locality which attaracts business and tourism. Sliema is not only a locality which is used by residents but is an attractive place to shop around and spend some leisure time having a coffee and enjoying the promenades.

The government is very ambitious to give the Sliema residents what they really deserve. We have seen major works being carried out in the last years and beautiful open play areas, state-of-the-art I must say, have been built. The Ferries area is being transformed into an area that will make us proud of what we have.

Yet again, having said all this, Sliema residents deserve to have a good functioning local council; a council that can address the daily Sliema needs, that can obtain EU funds to enhance the quality of air, the aesthetics of the locality, to address residents’ parking difficulties, and to dedicate its energy to avoid having one big construction site that annoys residents due to the daily and excessive noise, dust and lack of observation of rules at construction sites.

We must make sure that Sliema will have good local plans which will keep this locality a sustainable one and which will not only attract people from other localities to come and live in Sliema but will also keep Sliema people living in Sliema. We must ensure that cleanliness will be a priority and that no stone will be left unturned. We have to be hands on and monitor daily what is going on in our locality.

All this is possible by having a council truly dedicated to overcoming these ambitions. The Nationalist Party has a fantastic team contesting these elections and I am sure that Sliema residents will be very fond of their new council in general.

As a Sliema resident and a person who has lived in Sliema for years now, I will surely give and dedicate all my energy, together with all my colleagues to work in the best interest of the locality, with honesty and integrity and without expecting any applause in return.
