In the course of the past weeks, roads and pavements in Malta have been littered with numerous concrete bases placed there by either the Nationalist or Labour parties, who simply do not care that they are obstructing people’s passage.

The law enacted by PN and PL to suit themselves states that political parties can erect billboards anywhere they like for six weeks during a national election campaign.

We are not in a national election campaign. So how is it that the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MPs Roderick Galdes and Joseph Falzon please note) is allowing these dangerous concrete bases with rusty pointed metal sticking out?

Is it a question of subservience to one’s political masters?
