Divers in hospital after rescue
File picture
Two divers were hospitalised this afternoon after being rescued from rough seas off Wied Iz-Zurrieq.
The AFM was alerted by a fisherman that the divers found themselves in difficulty while trying to get ashore. A helicopter and a rescue launch was deployed and the two divers were winched on board the helicopter. One of them was found to be suffering the 'bends'.
Both divers were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

Well done to the AFM rescue team, people should be more responsible as in rough seas like that.

It is utterly irresponsible to dive in such conditions at Wied iz-Zurrieq. Well done to the AFM rescue team who despite of the risk for themselves and the sheer irresponsibility shown, saved them from a certain death.

I think it's a matter of choosing between the lesser of two evils. helicopters en-route to hospital fry pretty low though so I don't think that any more harm is caused.

They should be thankful that the AFM managed to save them. The weather forcast said that there would be 'rough seas' but apparently, this didn't stop the divers. 'Poor souls', indeed.
