A 31-year-old man was yesterday remanded in custody after he was allegedly caught on the roof of a house following a burglary.

Roderick Debono, of Paola, pleaded not guilty to aggravated theft of more than €2,300 worth of items from an elderly couple’s home.

He also denied breaching bail conditions and relapsing.

Last week police had arraigned another man, George Xuereb, in connection with the same case.

Mr Xuereb had pleaded not guilty and said it was a case of mistaken identity.

Lawyer Mark Busuttil said Mr Xuereb would be able to identify two of the real culprits if they were arraigned by the police.
